The Amazing Ponte Vecchio or the “Old Bridge” over the Arno River

Bride is generally built to connect one end of the river to another to provide ways for transportation and passengers. But what really surprising is the medieval bridge which is called The Ponte Vecchio or the “Old Bridge” over the Arno River, in Florence, Italy. This old stone bridge over the Arno River has many shops and chapels built over them and the reason is that the bridge serves as the gateway to the cities. Originally this bridge was built with stone and wood build was swept away by the flood in 1117 and it was rebuilt in stone and unfortunately it was destroyed again by another flood in 1333, save for its two central piers. Twelve years later the bridge was designed by and Italian architect and painter TaddeoGaddi.
